Law, philosophy & study skills for students who want to argue well.

I'm Killian — a Constitutional Government & Law graduate student who coaches students from middle school to practicing lawyers through writing, argument, and the reading that serious study demands.

Meet Killian

I'm a graduate student in Constitutional Government, Civics & Law at Utah Valley University, and a summa-cum-laude Political Science graduate from Brigham Young University–Hawaii.

I help middle- and high-school students (and early-college students) strengthen their writing, argumentation, and civics. I've worked one-on-one with up to 120 students as a teaching assistant in BYU–Hawaii's Political Science Department — coaching everything from a first thesis statement to a "We The People" final.

My students leave a session with a sharper argument on the page, a clearer map of the assignment, and the kind of reading habit that survives law-school cold-calls. We work synchronously online or asynchronously on documents you send me — whichever fits your schedule.

Six specialties.
One opinionated approach.

Choose what fits
01

Pre-law & legal writing

IRAC, case briefs, oral-argument prep, undergraduate Con Law and political philosophy papers. I read your draft the way a clinic supervisor would.

02

AP Gov & U.S. History

FRQs, SCOTUS case lists, founding-era primary sources, DBQs. Built for the 5 — not for memorizing flashcards.

03

Civics & "We The People"

Constitutional arguments, application essays, mock-hearing prep. I helped Mansi's son through his application — competitive and detail-heavy.

Executive functioning

For students who know the material but lose the assignment. We build the systems — planners, drafting rituals, revision passes — that make the work happen.

05

Essay writing & proofreading

Thesis, structure, voice. Whether it's a 5-paragraph high-school argument or a 12-page college seminar paper, we go from messy notes to a clean draft.

Async document review

Send the draft. I return it with detailed revisions and comments. Billable time varies by document type, length, and subject — we'll agree on an estimate before I start.

How do online sessions work?+
We meet on Google Meet or Zoom. I share a Google Doc we work in together — you keep it afterward as a record of what we covered and your homework. No special software required.
Where are you based — do you work with students outside Utah?+
All my sessions are online, so it doesn't matter where you are in the U.S. I work in Mountain Time (UTC-7) but most of my students are out of state.
Do you tutor adult and professional students?+
Absolutely — my students span from middle school all the way to practicing lawyers. Whether you're a paralegal, an LSAT candidate, a grad student, or a professional working on a brief or personal statement, the framework adapts to where you are.
Can I do async document review only?+
Yes. Send me your draft and I'll return it with detailed margin notes and revisions. Billable time is based on actual review time and varies by document type, length, and subject — we'll align on an estimate before I start.
How does payment work?+
Payment runs through Stripe. A hold is placed when you book to reserve your slot. After the session, the total is processed based on actual time — billed in 15-minute increments, so a session that runs to 75 minutes is charged at 75 minutes, up to the full hourly rate if we reach a full hour.
How far in advance should I book?+
It varies — availability can be as soon as the same day or as far as a month out depending on the time of year and my current schedule. The best way to know is to reach out and ask.
